These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to bookings for tours, trips, programs, events, and other travel experiences operated or arranged by Oong House [웅하우스] (“Oong House,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By making a booking, paying a deposit or other amount toward a booking, or participating in an Oong House experience, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms.
1. About Oong House
Oong House is a Korea-based travel and cultural experience company offering small-group tours, private tours, multi-day journeys, cultural programs, events, and related travel services. Our experiences may include services provided directly by Oong House as well as services provided by third parties, including accommodation providers, tour operators, vendors, transportation companies, restaurants, cultural institutions, activity providers, guides, instructors, and other partners.
2. Making a Booking
A booking is not confirmed until Oong House has:
– accepted the booking;
– received any required deposit or payment; and
– issued a booking confirmation.
Submitting an inquiry, consultation request, booking form, or questionnaire does not by itself guarantee availability or constitute a confirmed booking.
The person making a booking on behalf of multiple participants is responsible for ensuring that all participants are aware of and agree to these Terms.
You are responsible for providing accurate information when booking, including your name, contact information, number of participants, and any information reasonably required for us to operate the experience.
3. Prices
Prices are displayed or quoted in the currency stated at the time of booking. Unless otherwise stated, prices include only the services specifically identified as included in the experience description, itinerary, proposal, or booking confirmation.
Personal expenses and services not expressly identified as included are the participant’s responsibility.
Prices may vary according to group size, itinerary, date, transportation requirements, accommodation, requested services, or other factors.
For private and customized experiences, your final price will be provided before you confirm the booking.
4. Deposits and Payment
Payment requirements vary depending on the experience. Some experiences may require full payment at the time of booking, while private tours, multi-day journeys, and other customized experiences may require a deposit to confirm the booking. The applicable deposit amount, payment schedule, and final payment deadline will be disclosed before booking.
Any remaining balance must be paid in full before the start of the experience and by the payment deadline stated in your booking confirmation, invoice, or payment schedule.
A booking is not considered fully paid until Oong House has received the total amount due.
If payment is not received by the stated deadline, Oong House reserves the right to cancel the booking in accordance with the applicable cancellation policy.
Any bank charges, foreign exchange fees, card fees, or other charges imposed by the participant’s bank or payment provider are the participant’s responsibility unless otherwise stated.
5. Participant Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation policies may vary according to the type of experience because Oong House may incur different advance costs for guides, transportation, accommodation, venues, activities, and other suppliers. The cancellation policy applicable to your booking will be disclosed on the relevant product page, proposal, invoice, or booking confirmation.
Where a specific cancellation policy has been provided for an experience, that policy forms part of these Terms.
Refunds, when applicable and unless specified, will normally be returned using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
Any non-refundable costs that Oong House has already committed to third-party suppliers may be deducted from a refund where permitted by applicable law and the cancellation policy provided at booking. Failure to attend an experience without cancelling in advance (“no-show”) will generally not qualify for a refund, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
6. Changes to Your Booking
Requests to change a booking, including changes to dates, participants, or services, are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Additional costs resulting from a requested change are the participant’s responsibility.
For private or customized experiences, significant changes requested after the itinerary has been approved may be subject to additional planning or administrative fees where disclosed in advance.
Bookings may not be transferred to another person unless Oong House agrees to the transfer.
7. Cancellations or Changes by Oong House
Oong House may make reasonable changes to an itinerary when necessary because of weather, transportation disruptions, site closures, public events, safety concerns, supplier changes, government restrictions, operational circumstances, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Where possible, we will provide a reasonable alternative of comparable nature or value.
Oong House may also cancel an experience if operating it would be unsafe, impractical, or impossible. If Oong House cancels an experience and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, participants will be offered the remedies required under the applicable booking terms and Korean law.
8. Minimum Participation
Some group experiences require a minimum number of participants to operate. Where a minimum applies, it may or may not be disclosed in the experience information or booking conditions. If the minimum number is not reached, Oong House may cancel, reschedule, or offer an alternative experience in accordance with the cancellation terms provided at booking. Participants should consider this possibility when making independent travel arrangements connected to an experience.
9. Meeting Times and Late Arrivals
Participants are responsible for arriving at the designated meeting point by the stated meeting time. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early to allow time for check-in.
For scheduled walking tours, Oong House will wait for late participants for up to 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. After this grace period, the tour will begin and cannot be further delayed for late arrivals.
If you are running late, please contact Oong House as soon as possible. We will make reasonable efforts to help you locate or join the group after the tour has started, but we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.
For private tours, day trips, multi-day journeys, and other experiences, late arrival may affect the itinerary, reservations, transportation, or activities scheduled for that day. Where possible, we will adjust the itinerary, but missed activities or additional costs resulting from a participant’s late arrival are the participant’s responsibility.
Missing part or all of an experience because of late arrival or failure to arrive at the designated meeting point does not entitle the participant to a refund.
10. Physical Requirements and Accessibility
Oong House experiences may involve walking, stairs, hills, uneven surfaces, prolonged standing, public transportation, outdoor conditions, or other physical activity. Where an experience has significant physical requirements, we will make reasonable efforts to describe them in advance. Participants are responsible for considering whether an experience is suitable for their individual circumstances.
If you have accessibility requirements or mobility considerations that may affect your participation, please contact us before booking so that we can discuss reasonable accommodations and whether the itinerary is suitable. We cannot guarantee that every site, vehicle, building, or third-party facility used during an experience will be fully accessible.
11. Health and Medical Considerations
Participants are responsible for determining whether they are medically and physically able to participate in an experience. Participants must inform Oong House before the experience of any dietary requirements, allergies, accessibility needs, or other information that we reasonably need to know to safely provide the booked services.
Oong House guides and staff do not provide medical advice. In an emergency, Oong House may contact emergency services or take other reasonable steps considered necessary for a participant’s safety. Any medical or emergency expenses incurred remain the participant’s responsibility.
12. Food, Allergies, and Dietary Requirements
Some experiences may include food or beverages. Please disclose relevant allergies or dietary requirements before the experience.
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate dietary requirements to restaurants and other providers, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or fully eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination where food is prepared by third parties.
13. Participant Conduct
We want Oong House experiences to be welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone. Participants must behave respectfully towards guides, staff, other participants, local residents, cultural and religious sites, and our partners.
Oong House may remove a participant from an experience if their behavior:
– creates a safety risk;
– seriously disrupts the experience;
– involves harassment, discrimination, threats, or abusive conduct;
– causes or risks significant damage to property; or
– repeatedly disregards reasonable instructions from the guide or trip leader.
A participant removed for serious misconduct will not normally be entitled to a refund for unused services.
14. Alcohol
Where an experience includes or involves alcohol, participants are responsible for drinking responsibly and complying with applicable laws. Oong House may refuse to serve alcohol to, or remove from an activity, a participant whose intoxication creates a safety risk or substantially disrupts the experience.
15. Children and Minors
Age requirements may vary by experience. Minors must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult unless an experience specifically states otherwise. The responsible adult is responsible for determining whether an experience is appropriate for the minor.
16. Travel Documents and Entry Requirements
For multi-day journeys and other travel services, participants are responsible for ensuring that they possess all necessary passports, visas, immigration permissions, identification, insurance, and other documents required for their travel. Oong House is not responsible for losses resulting from a participant’s failure to satisfy applicable entry, immigration, or documentation requirements.
17. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that all participants purchase appropriate travel insurance for their trip to Korea. Oong House may request proof of travel insurance before the start of a multi-day journey.
For multi-day journeys, participants are required to have valid travel insurance for the duration of the experience. At a minimum, the policy should provide appropriate coverage for medical treatment and emergencies. We also recommend coverage for trip cancellation or interruption, emergency transportation, lost or delayed baggage, and other travel-related risks.
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own insurance and ensuring that the policy provides adequate coverage for their individual circumstances and the activities included in their itinerary. Any costs resulting from circumstances that are not covered by the participant’s insurance remain the participant’s responsibility.
18. Third-Party Providers
Some parts of your experience may be provided by independent third parties, including hotels, transportation operators, restaurants, museums, venues, instructors, and activity providers. Third-party services may be subject to the provider’s own terms, operating rules, cancellation policies, and safety requirements. Oong House will exercise reasonable care in selecting and coordinating providers but cannot control every aspect of independently operated third-party services. Nothing in this section limits any responsibility that Oong House cannot legally exclude under applicable law.
19. Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their own luggage, valuables, electronic devices, passports, and personal belongings. Please check that you have collected your belongings when leaving vehicles, restaurants, hotels, venues, and other locations. Oong House is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
20. Photography and Recording
Participants may generally take photographs for personal use unless photography or recording is prohibited by a site, cultural practice, event, or individual. Please respect the privacy of other participants and ask permission before taking or publishing photographs or recordings in which another participant is clearly identifiable.
Oong House may occasionally photograph or record experiences for documentation or promotional purposes. Where identifiable participants are used for promotional purposes, Oong House will obtain any consent required under applicable law. Participants who do not wish to appear in Oong House photography or video should inform us prior to the experience.
21. Cultural and Community Respect
Some Oong House experiences may involve religious sites, traditional practices, ceremonies, communities, private spaces, or culturally sensitive subjects. Participants agree to follow reasonable instructions regarding photography, dress, behavior, privacy, and participation. Access to communities, ceremonies, practitioners, or cultural spaces should not be understood as permission to photograph, record, reproduce, commercialize, or publicly share everything encountered during an experience.
22. Assumption of Ordinary Travel Risks
Travel and outdoor activities involve ordinary risks, including changing weather, uneven terrain, traffic, public transportation, crowds, and other conditions outside Oong House’s direct control.
Participants agree to exercise reasonable care for their own safety and follow reasonable safety instructions provided by guides, staff, venues, and service providers.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
23. Circumstances Beyond Our Reasonable Control
Oong House is not responsible for failure or delay in providing services caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, which may include severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, government actions, transportation disruption, strikes, civil disturbances, site closures, or similar events.
When such circumstances affect an experience, we will make reasonable efforts to provide alternatives, reschedule affected services, or otherwise address the booking in accordance with applicable law and the terms of the booking.
24. Complaints and Problems During Your Experience
If something goes wrong during your experience, please tell your guide or Oong House representative as soon as reasonably possible. Giving us the opportunity to address an issue while the experience is taking place often allows us to resolve it more effectively. If the matter cannot be resolved during the experience, please contact Oong House at: [help@oonghouse.com]. Please include your booking information and a description of the issue.
25. Personal Information
Oong House collects and processes personal information necessary to manage bookings, communicate with participants, operate experiences, provide requested services, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Our handling of personal information is governed by our separate Privacy Policy.
Where necessary to fulfill a booking, relevant information may be shared with service providers such as hotels, transportation companies, restaurants, guides, activity providers, or other partners.
26. Website and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, content created by Oong House, including written materials, branding, original itineraries, educational materials, photographs, graphics, and website content, is owned by or licensed to Oong House. Such materials may not be reproduced or used commercially without permission, except as permitted by applicable law.
27. Applicable Law
These Terms and bookings with Oong House are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or restrict rights that consumers are entitled to under mandatory Korean consumer-protection or travel laws. If any provision of these Terms conflicts with a mandatory provision of applicable law, the mandatory provision will prevail.
28. Changes to These Terms
Oong House may update these Terms from time to time. The Terms applicable to a booking will generally be those provided or made available when the booking was made, except where a change is required by law or agreed with the participant.
